Who am I? 

Hi, I’m Ty—a nature enthusiast, fitness lover, keen hiker, and traveller. I have a deep love for music, martial arts, and a profound interest in personal development. With a background as a seasoned cook and several years of experience as a personal trainer, my life is guided by a commitment to holistic well-being.

Passionate about psychology, my love for understanding the human mind adds a layer of depth to my approach, allowing me to connect with individuals on a more profound level.

I am an outgoing and adventurous individual who loves to experience new things. Those I support see me as calm, extremely caring, encouraging and passionate about what I do. I find joy in a range of activities, including photography and videography, and love being on the go. Yet, I also appreciate being present, practising mindfulness as well as stillness.

Why This Role?

For me, being a mentor is my calling. I am here to create meaningful opportunities for individuals to believe in themselves. I am driven by the passion to empower others, helping them see beyond limitations and discover their strengths within. Being a mentor is more than a profession; it's a commitment to being the role model I never had. It's about inspiring and guiding others to live a life they love and recognise their value.

Who am I?

Hi I'm Tom, a proud Mentor of Beyond Mentoring SA for the past 3 years. My hobbies include footy, basketball, soccer, video games, and fishing. Camping is a passion, and I seize every opportunity to embrace the outdoors. A devoted supporter of Adelaide's sports scene, I'm a huge fan of the Adelaide Crows and Adelaide United, attending as many games as possible. With a bright and bubbly personality, I bring boundless energy and an eagerness to explore new experiences. Known for my soft-natured demeanour, I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and am committed to guiding individuals out of their comfort zones to achieve their goals. Growing up with a younger brother with a disability has provided me with invaluable life experiences, shaping me into the person I am today.

Why this role?

Following the passing of my younger brother, I felt a calling to work in the disability sector, a cause close to my heart. Knowing my brother never had the chance to benefit from a mentor, I committed myself to giving back and supporting as many individuals as possible on their unique journeys.

Who Am I?

Hi I'm Amy Coad, a dedicated mentor at Beyond Mentoring SA. My diverse range of hobbies includes playing tennis, travelling, gardening, mastering musical instruments, and singing. I have an open-minded approach, always eager to embrace new experiences and learn about others' interests.

With a deep interest in technology, I find great fulfilment in teaching effective computing skills and device usage to others. Advocating for the benefits of a highly organised life, I strive to assist individuals in enhancing their organisational and time management skills.

Why This Role?

Over the past six years, I have served as a Primary School Teacher, acquiring a valuable skill set and diverse experience in working with various abilities. These experiences have greatly contributed to my ability to assist people and further fueled my passion for supporting individuals in achieving their goals.

Transferring my knowledge from teaching to my current role, I am mindful that no single approach fits every individual. Thus, creating specific and differentiated strategies is crucial for personal growth and development.

Who am I?

Hello, I'm Jai! Outside of work, my passion lies in sports and staying active. Football (AFL) is my game, and I'm equally enthusiastic about sports like basketball and NFL. Keeping fit is a priority, and I find joy in training at the gym. Alongside my sporting interests, Anime holds a special place in my heart. With a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Psychology, I bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to my role as a Mentor

Why this role? 

My journey into mentoring was strongly influenced by my family. With both my mum and younger brother having ASD, I found a deep connection to the role of a mentor. It became an opportunity for me to apply the knowledge and skills gained from my life experiences, positively impacting a community that I hold close. I find immense satisfaction from helping people of all abilities reach their goals. My specific passion lies in assisting individuals in overcoming barriers to engage in physical activity, exercise, and sport.

Who am I?

Hey, I'm Nancy—a devoted mother of two wonderful kids, aged 5 and 2. Being a mum is a major priority for me, and I find immense joy and fulfilment in it. I'm passionate about the beach, good company, great coffee, all things nature, and I particularly love Pilates. My nurturing personality is geared toward bringing out the best in people, serving a balance of an easy-going, bubbly and encouraging support style. 

Why this Role?

In my eyes, everybody matters. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness, and everyone deserves access to the things that bring them joy and fulfilment. I deeply care and love to help people in achieving their goals and leading more fulfilling lives.

Who am I?

Hey, I'm Braedyn. I thrive on team sports and have a passion for leading from the front, helping others realise their potential. Staying active is a big part of my life, whether it's going for walks, runs, or pushing my limits at the gym. I enjoy assisting individuals in various areas of life, including hitting the gym, improving their health, learning new skills and building independence. 

Why this role?

I became a mentor in early 2023 and haven't looked back. My decision to enter this line of work stems from personal experiences of being a role model for my community and, more specifically, for my cousin living with an intellectual disability.

Seeing the positive impact I can make on the community, helping individuals achieve their goals, pushing their limits, and being part of amazing experiences is incredibly fulfilling. Who am I?

Hey there! I'm Mikyla, I recently completed my bachelor's degree in Outdoor Environmental Leadership at the University of South Australia.This unique degree combines Outdoor Education and Environmental Science, aligning perfectly with my ultimate goal of working in Adventure Therapy.

Why Adventure Therapy? Adventure Therapy is my passion—a transformative process that utilises the outdoors to increase wellness, achieve physical and emotional goals, and build a sense of belonging. I'm an avid pilates enthusiast, paddleboarder, baseball player and travel lover. 

Why this role? 

Mentoring is not just a job for me; it's a calling. I gain fulfilment from guiding and teaching those I support, particularly in areas like cleaning, organisation, and sharing my love for the great outdoors. Witnessing the profound impact that even small changes can make in someone's life fuels my commitment to this rewarding role. Building relationships is key, and I believe it's these connections that can truly transform and uplift someone's journey.

Who am I? 

Hello, I’m David, 60 years young and celebrating 29 years of marriage. I love spending time with my family, including our Labradoodle Fletch. I'm passionate about coaching cricket, finding fulfilment in the teamwork and camaraderie within the club while passing on knowledge to younger club members. Aussie Rules football and rugby league capture my interest, and I'm an avid traveller, fascinated by different cultures, having explored South-East Asia multiple times. I love to read and watch the occasional movie. 

Why this role?

After spending 16 years in the car sales industry, I decided it was time for a change. I sought an opportunity to give back to the community and make a positive impact, leading me to join Beyond Mentoring SA.

I mentor because I love helping people navigate life's challenges. Drawing on my background in building connections with individuals from diverse backgrounds, I apply these skills to my role as a mentor. Working with people to address vulnerabilities and leverage strengths brings me joy. My main focus is to support those aged 45 and above, aiming to reduce social isolation and enhance their overall well-being.

Who am I?

Hello, I'm Dylan, proudly based in the Northern suburbs and deeply committed to serving my local community. I’m your go-to guy for all things sports – AFL, cricket, basketball, NFL; you name it, I'm probably cheering for it. When I'm not on the sidelines, you can find me camping and fishing. 

Over the past decade, my professional journey has unfolded in the retail industry. I've been part of multiple store leadership teams, leading departments, and managing entire stores. Now, bringing my extensive managerial and leadership skills into the world of mentoring, I find immense satisfaction in helping individuals with disabilities achieve independence and enhance their organisational skills. Witnessing the impact of effective guidance on participants as they strive toward personal goals makes this role exceptionally rewarding and meaningful.

Why this role? 

While I may be relatively new to mentoring, my passion for providing support runs deep. Having seen the rewards and impact of this work through friends in similar fields, I knew I wanted a career that made a real difference. Coming from a retail background where duties often had limited impact, transitioning into mentoring allows me to contribute to meaningful change and positively impact the lives of others.

Hey there, I'm Tom. A bundle of energy, creativity, and perpetual smiles. I thrive on outdoor adventures like running, cycling, and beach days, and I love expressing myself through painting and camping trips. When it's downtime, you'll catch me on the couch, popcorn in hand, engrossed in movies, or cheering on my favourite soccer team, Liverpool.

Why this role?

Growing up with Dyslexia and undiagnosed ADHD wasn't easy, but it fuelled my empathy and drive to help others. That's why I'm passionate about seeing people grow and gain confidence and as a mentor, I'm dedicated to helping them flourish and celebrate their unique strength. Being a mentor is incredibly rewarding.

Who am I?

Hi, I'm Anthony, an avid sports enthusiast particularly passionate about AFL and soccer. Barracking for the Adelaide Crows, I remain a dedicated supporter. Beyond sports, I find joy in exploring new destinations with friends, making travel an integral part of my life. The gym is my sanctuary, and I'm currently immersing myself in the study of Cert 3 and 4 in personal training, driven by my passion for fitness. Whether it's conquering trails on hikes, engaging in competitive sports, or setting new milestones in the gym, staying active is central to my lifestyle.

Why this role?

Growing up alongside my sister, who has an intellectual disability, instilled in me a profound empathy and dedication to supporting individuals facing diverse challenges. My journey in the disability sector commenced with the completion of my Certificate 3 in Disability in 2022. Since then, I've embarked on a fulfilling path where I actively assist individuals in realising their aspirations and reaching their fullest potential.
