    About the Role

    We are seeking a passionate Mentor to join our team. This part-time role offers the potential to become full-time for the right person. You will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities by offering support, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and facilitating community engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide empathy, understanding, and encouragement to individuals with disabilities.
    • Promote healthy lifestyles through guidance on nutrition, exercise, and wellness.
    • Facilitate social connections and community engagement opportunities.
    • Conduct assessments to determine needs and set achievable goals.
    • Create and implement individualised support plans.
    • Assist in skill development, including communication, problem-solving, and daily living activities.
    • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals within various settings.
    • Monitor progress, adjust strategies, and celebrate achievements.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support.
    • Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports.
    • Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in a relevant field or formal qualifications in disability support (preferred but not essential).
    • Lived experience of disability is highly valued.
    • Allied health students, teachers, personal trainers, or related backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

    Experience

    • Previous mentoring or support role experience within the disability sector is highly desirable.
    • Coaching or personal training experience is beneficial.

    • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
    • Collaborative mindset with effective time management and organisational skills.

    • Unique skill sets that can complement a client's life, such as administrative skills to assist with life admin tasks or independent living skills to help set up bills and other essential services - these varied skills can provide unique support, so if you have other skills please do include them in your application.

    Other Requirements

    • Availability for overnights and running group sessions.
    • Willingness to travel and adapt to changing schedules.
    • Possession of a clean driving license.
    • Working with Children’s Check.
    • Vulnerable Person Related Employment Check.
    • Police Clearance.
    • First Aid/CPR certification.
    • Completion of NDIS modules (NDIS Induction, Worker Orientation, Supporting Effective Communication).
